Want To Work At Home?
Would You Want to Work at Home?
Not everybody wants to work from home, even if they think they do in the beginning. There are many, many advantages to working from home. The list is impressively long. And that long list of advantages really is appealing.
It’s true that you don’t have get up at a crazy hour because your job demands that you be at a certain place and at a certain time five days a week, every week, year in and year out with only occasional exceptions. It’s also true that you don’t have to shower, dress, shave, or apply makeup and be ready to leave home at the crack of dawn so that you can go out there and fight rush hour traffic when you work at home.
But, where there are advantages, you can be sure that there are also disadvantages, and sometimes the disadvantages of working at home can outweigh the advantages for many people.
For example, there are people who NEED to be around other people. They require the energy generated by conversation. Input is vital. Personal contact isn’t optional. They NEED it in order to function. When you work from home, you have … well … you have yourself, and you have faceless contacts that you make through your work from home with whom you communicate mostly by email or chat. There is no personal contact.
Another “advantage” of working from home is getting to be your own “boss.” But sometimes people who try to work from home find out that they aren’t very good bosses. They didn’t come equipped with the “self-starter” gene. They simply don’t get anything done. And no matter whether you have a work-at-home job or a work-at-home business, you DO have to get the work done, and it’s up to YOU to make sure that it gets done, on time.
It’s true that work at home isn’t the right fit for everybody. But if working at home is a good fit for you, then you can find a million reasons why you want to work from home!
